Nick Chubb Injury: He is ‘out for season’ after severe knee injury in Browns’ loss to Steelers
Cleveland Browns' Nick Chubb got hurt during a game, and the ESPN commentators, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, told everyone how serious it was.
Here's what happened: Chubb was running towards the goal in the first half of their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But then, something bad happened. He got tackled, and he grabbed his left leg right away. It didn't look good, and the commentators said it was even worse than it seemed.
Joe Buck on ABC said, "Don't watch the replay of Nick Chubb getting hurt. It's not good." But the replay played in the stadium, and people there reacted with a loud groan.
Troy Aikman, the analyst, added, "We won't show it. Trust me, it's really bad."
What happened was, a player from the Steelers named Minkah Fitzpatrick hit Chubb low, and another player was trying to bring him down. Because of that, Chubb's knee bent in a way that it shouldn't.
Chubb had to be taken off the field on a cart. Even though Steelers fans saw the replay and chanted his name, it was a sad moment. The Browns said Chubb had a knee injury and couldn't play anymore. Jerome Ford, who was Chubb's backup, scored the next time they played, but nobody was too excited because they were worried about Chubb.
After the game, Browns' coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed the bad news. Chubb's season was over because of a "significant" knee injury. This wasn't the first time Chubb hurt his left knee. It happened when he was playing for Georgia in college in 2015. He came back to play in 2016 and 2017 and then became a second-round draft pick for the Browns.
Chubb is really good at what he does. He's one of the best running backs in the NFL and is very important to the Browns' offense. Last season, he had his best year with 1,525 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. This year, he had 106 rushing yards in the first game and 64 yards when he got hurt. Chubb is in the second year of a three-year, $36 million deal with the Browns.
Now that Chubb can't play, Jerome Ford will likely be the main running back for the team. He did well in the game, with 106 yards on 16 carries and three catches for 25 yards and a touchdown. Ford is 23 years old and is in his second season in the league.
