NASCAR 2023 points standings after Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway
Kyle Larson, the driver for Hendrick Motorsports, won the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday. This victory secured his spot in the next round of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series.
In an exciting race at Darlington, Larson overtook Tyler Reddick with 55 laps to go and held onto his lead until the final lap when he crossed the finish line first.
With this win, Larson earned 57 points and moved from sixth place to second in the overall standings. He now has 2074 points, three wins, and 11 top-five finishes.
William Byron finished fourth in the race and gained 39 points, keeping him at the top of the driver's standings with 2075 points. He has five wins and 10 top-five finishes.
Christopher Bell, who started at the front of the race, had a tough time and ended up in 23rd place. He gained 17 points and is currently 12th in the standings with 2031 points.
Defending champion Erik Jones finished in 10th place, earning 35 points and putting him in 27th place in the standings with 429 points.
