Chiefs overcome mistakes to beat Jaguars 17-9, Kansas City’s 3rd win vs. Jacksonville in 10 months
The Kansas City Chiefs played a football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and won 17-9. This was the third time they beat the Jaguars in the last 10 months. Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs' quarterback, threw two touchdown passes, including one to Travis Kelce, who had just returned to the team. But, despite the win, the Chiefs didn't play very well on offense.
They made a lot of mistakes, like fumbling the ball and getting penalties. They got penalized 12 times for a total of 94 yards. It was also really hot and humid, which made it tough for both the fans and the players. Some players even got cramps because of the weather.
The Chiefs were the Super Bowl champions from the previous season, and if they had lost this game, they would have been the first champions to start the new season with two losses in over 20 years.
The Jaguars, on the other hand, didn't play very well in their home game. Their quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, was frustrated because they couldn't score many points. They had a chance to score a touchdown when they were very close to the end zone, but they only got a field goal.
The Chiefs' defense, especially Chris Jones, did a great job. Chris Jones was playing his first game of the season after a contract dispute, and he got 1.5 sacks and put a lot of pressure on the Jaguars' quarterback.
Even though the Chiefs won, they made too many mistakes, like fumbling and getting penalties. Their coach, Andy Reid, said they need to fix those issues. Patrick Mahomes played well, but they still have a lot of work to do.
The Jaguars were disappointed with their performance and said they will do better next time. They'll have to come up with a better plan to stop players like Chris Jones.
In the end, it's only the second game of the season, so there's a long way to go. The Chiefs will play against Chicago next week, and the Jaguars will face Houston.
